First sign of spring?

The weather is slowly changing around here. The yard is still buried under several feet of snow (sorry, all you April Ice Out optimists), but the one-ton ice dams are crashing down from the roof and we hear a constant drip, drip, drip as the melting continues.

Yesterday, Bud and I were venturing out and I raised the garage door to find that the ice had finally melted outside it, revealing the driveway we haven't seen since 2007. From behind me, I heard Bud gasp the sort of gasp he usually reserves for Christmas morning.

"Mama," he marvelled, "The pavement came out!"

It is indeed a sure sign of spring. Once the pavement starts blooming, can the crocuses really be that far behind?

Priceless! Here's hoping my June 16 prediction is WRONG! :-)

Brilliant! Maybe even sweeter than the first robin.

And here's hoping that MOM-NOS doesn't end up wishing it had been right! ;)

Today has been a perfectly LOVELY day here! I have no clue what temp range we're experiencing but suffice it to say, the sun has been shining nicely, a breeze going and the kitchen (back of the house) door as well as the front door have been open almost all day allowing for a very comfortable breeze to pass through. Such a switch from the below or near zero stuff not to long ago and I'm loving it. (Oh, and the crocuses and tulip are both up in front of the house with buds on the crocus plants too now!)
Yay! Yay! Spring is definitely on the way. Just hope it doesn't get lost someplace before it gets here.

Love it! I said almost the same thing: "Look! We have a driveway!"

ahh I remember those days from my northern living. But now I'm in AZ. J told me today was spring because our trees are turning green.

Thanks for the good laugh. The pavement is resurrected, hooray! Denver woke up to yet another dusting of snow, but we'll get there!

Also loved your take on Autism Awareness Month, and wish I'd incorporated it into my current post. I did include you in the list at the end of the post. Thanks for all you do...and share so eloquently! K.

Very funny! We are seeing the birds come back here a lot more now.

M: We have crocuses (croci?) down here, not that far from you, so it's coming. I saw a street sweeper today and since I moved here (80s?), I've realized that THIS is the true sign of spring: The thrifty town powers believe enough that snow is over that they are willing to spend money to start the clean up!

I haven't picked a date yet, because I've seen pictures recently. That doesn't seem fair.

Good luck!

Our pavement came out a couple of weeks ago.

This weekend, it retreated under more than a foot of new snowfall.

Doesn't it seem like, once spring has been in effect for a certain amount of time, it should be obligated to stay? If for no other reason than to please Bud?
