Credible threat

The scanners have started picking up words and phrases like "oppositional," "defiant," "noncompliant," "he needs to understand," "crashing and banging," and "consequences to actions."

The scanners have not been picking up words and phrases like "dysregulated," "more space," "slow down," "we need to understand," "needs deep sensory input," or "reconsider our approach."

I'm bumping the threat level back to yellow.

Hang in there MOM. Your constant vigilance is keeping Bud safe.

And you have started your daily posting a couple days early- yay!

Hope the NOS family has a happy halloween!

Yes, Gretchen - I'm thinking of it as being in training for NaBloPoMo. Just a few hours till the event kick-off... is it time to start carbo-loading?

I hope you are able to downgrade the threat level for Bud soon.
Good luck with your writing venture!

I feel like I'm on yellow or at least yellow-green most of the time. last year (a tough one) I was on orange for much, much too long. good luck!

Wow, I hadn't read your August 29th post until now -- I was on vacation, followed shortly thereafter by a visit to Planet Despair. That was a brilliant post that you're referencing here . . .

I've been watching the same things for Sweet M over the last year, and it just gets worse and worse. I don't know what to do . . . but these are the threads . . .

"She needs to understand."
"She doesn't listen." -- this at an LD school for kids language issues!!
"The other kids don't act the way she acts."
"She has to learn to control herself."
"The other kids notice that she's different."

Ah-duh. Of course they do.

But it's the adults who are making the difference into a problem, into something to be othered and cast out.

Watch closely. Nip this in the bud (and not the Bud we love).

Over at Autism's Edges were are way into Code Red.

A year of Code Yellow over here, and too much "make nice" and diplomacy has not helped at all.

Think it's time for an FBA of the source of certain words......
